The Japan
Earthquake and Tsunami on March 11, 2011 has had a devastating impact on the
local communities in the Tohoku region, has caused disruption throughout
Japan, and has had global repercussions.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to those affected with hopes for a
strong recovery. To assist
in the relief and recovery, The Miner Foundation is supporting “Hope Love for
Japan”. Kay Yoshida, the founder of
Hope Love for Japan describers the mission: I formed “Hope Love for Japan”
specifically to support the efforts of smaller on-the-ground nonprofit
organizations (NPOs) that are nimble and quick. Our mission is to send goods and cash to
NPOs closing working with evacuees. The Miner Foundation is providing
organizational support during the setup of Hope Love for Japan and has
pledged to match the first $25,000 in donations. Smaller nonprofit organizations are
the ones really doing the groundwork, removing junk from streets and
playgrounds, cleaning up mud from people's houses, and providing hot meals to
evacuees. As of today, we have selected seven
different nonprofit organizations. We
will closely communicate with these organizations and send much needed goods,
which change daily. Our organization
partnered with Yamato Transport U.S.A. Menlo Park blanch. Yamato Transport U.S.A. is giving us a
significant discount on shipping costs. Since we are sending goods by air,
we carefully select lightweight items that make sense to ship via air. Please contact me directly when offering
large quantity of goods. The first shipment was sent on April
7, 2011. Items included, Cheerios,
Protein Bars, Raisin, Nuts, work gloves, underwear, and socks. Please check our ‘More Goods Needed’ link for what we
are collecting. There are examples of five
organizations we support. Read more details Hope Love for Japan is happy to
visit your organization to present what is happening on the ground. If you are educational organization,
we are happy to provide ideas for your fundraising effort. * 100% of our funds, goods, and
effort go directly to people and organizations in the affected area. The Miner Foundation is a US IRS 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable foundation. Kay Yoshida, Director Hope Love for Japan Contact: +1-650-759-2163 Email: Kay.Yoshida
