The Japan Earthquake and Tsunami on March 11, 2011 had
a devastating impact on the local communities in the Tohoku region, has
caused disruption throughout Japan, and has had global repercussions. Our thoughts and prayers go out to those
affected with hopes for a strong recovery. To assist
in the relief and recovery, The Miner Foundation (About) in
partnership with SunBridge Corporation has
sponsored several Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief donation campaigns. We
ask that individuals and institutions contribute generously to these
important efforts. The Miner
Foundation and SunBridge are matching up to $50,000 of donations made directly
through The Miner Foundation for the relief effort. The Miner Foundation and
SunBridge will contribute $1 for every $1 donated (up to $50,000 for a
combined $100,000). Additionally, The
Miner Foundation has partnered with (and committed up to an additional $135,000
in matching funds) to several fund-raising partners. The Miner
Foundation is a 501c(3) tax-exempt charitable foundation (Link to The Miner Foundation in the IRS
Qualified Charities Database), so your donation is tax
deductible. Fully 100%
of donations received by The Miner Foundation along with the matching funds
from The Miner Foundation and SunBridge will be contributed directly to Japan
earthquake and tsunami relief and recovery efforts. $100,000 of combined donations and matching
funds raised by The Miner Foundation and it’s fund-raising partners is going
to the earthquake relief efforts of the Japanese
Red Cross Society through the Consulate-General
of Japan in San Francisco’s Tohoku Pacific Earthquake Relief Fund. Additional donations and matching funds
will be contributed directly to Japanese organizations providing relief and
recovery assistance in the Tohoku region that have been selected by The Miner
Foundation, or with the oversight of The Miner Foundation to organizations

The Miner
Foundation and SunBridge joined as sponsors of the SF Startups for Japan Relief fund
raiser for Save the Children Japan that was
held March 23 in San Francisco. The
Miner Foundation will match the funds raised by SF Startups for Japan with a
donation of up to $25,000 to the Japanese
Red Cross Society through the Consulate-General

The Miner

With Japan” a fund raising campaign by Boston area university students. The donations and matching funds will go to the

Monterey Institute of International Studies The Miner
Foundation and SunBridge have pledged up to $25,000 in matching funds for the
Japan relief fund raising campaign of students, staff and faculty volunteers
of the Monterey
Institute of International Studies.
The donations raised by the MIIS volunteers and the first $10,000 of matching
funds from The Miner Foundation will be contributed to Give2Asia, on the
recommendation of the Japan Society of Northern California. Up to $15,000 of additional matching funds
will be contributed directly to Japanese organizations providing relief and
recovery assistance in the Tohoku region that have been selected by The Miner

established a Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief fund raising drive in
partnership with The Miner Foundation.

“Hope Love
for Japan” was formed by Kay Yoshida, specifically to support the efforts of
smaller on-the-ground nonprofit organizations (NPOs) that are nimble and
quick. Their mission is to send goods
and cash to NPOs closing working with evacuees. The Miner Foundation is
providing organizational support during the setup of Hope Love for Japan and
has pledged to match the first $25,000 in donations. Smaller nonprofit
organizations are the ones really doing the groundwork, removing junk from
streets and playgrounds, cleaning up mud from people's houses, and providing
hot meals to evacuees. So far, Hope
Love for Japan has selected seven different nonprofit organizations. It will closely communicate with these
organizations and send much needed goods.
Donations to “Hope Love for Japan” through The Miner Foundation are
tax deductible. Fully 100% of funds
and goods donated to “Hope Love for Japan”, plus matching contributions, are

Communities ETIC, Entrepreneurial
Training for Innovative Communities, is a
Japanese Nonprofit Organization that is working to produce opportunities and
places for young people to develop their entrepreneurship and create
innovations. ETIC includes in its
focus both business and social entrepreneurship. In response to the earthquake, ETIC has
worked both to train volunteers to help lead projects in the affected areas
and to create a longer-term project for entrepreneurial recovery in the
region. The Miner Foundation has pledged
$50,000 in support of ETIC’s Disaster Recovery Leaders Project, SunBridge is matching employee donations to
ETIC and has provided use of SunBridge facilities for ETIC training sessions. For more

The North Eastern Japan section of the Scout Association of
Japan is providing its portable boilers and experience to
establish temporary showers for relief volunteers in Ishinomaki,
Japan. The Miner Foundation has
pledged to fund the Scouts’ cost to rent the portable showers that are used
with their boilers for a period of three months. The Miner Foundation has committed $35,000
to the project to be funded either through a direct grant or with a
combination of third party and matching funds.
